Behaviour elicits action and much about today’s environment is a result of past behaviour, past actions by populations in all countries which is causing us to now challenge how humanity is having visible impact on the climate, on communities and on life. The question that begats the western world in particular is how to change attitude and behaviour thereby shifting the populace to positive habitual change. But how can we get people to act differently?
The root lies in communication using the panorama of senses – visual, verbal and aural stimulation using direct dialogue, peer group consensus, life styling and other tactics. However communication is usually poorly executed but it is not too difficult to get it right. Helpfully Sauce Consultancy has three communication commandments:
- Keep it clear
- Keep it consistent
- Keep it continuous
Follow these with a good dose of belief to see how attitude informs behaviour to change people’s actions. Already future trend spotters are citing the next decade as the one when green living became the norm along with ‘cashing out’. With great communication, we can achieve this realisation in our teens before we hit the twenties.
